Hyderabad: BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao on Thursday accused the Congress government of turning Telangana into a “mafia state,” blaming Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for rampant corruption, lawlessness, and intimidation of officials.
Speaking at Telangana Bhavan, Rama Rao said governance had collapsed under Congress rule. He alleged that even senior IAS and IPS officers are seeking voluntary retirement due to political pressure. “The administration is no longer functioning. It has become a market for commissions and internal settlements,” he said.
KTR demands action in gun threat case
Rama Rao slammed the Chief Minister’s silence over a Minister allegedly protecting a gun threat accused. “The Minister’s daughter publicly accused the Chief Minister, yet he stayed silent,” he said.
He claimed the CM sent a task force to the Minister’s home, but the accused left in the Minister’s vehicle. “I have never seen a weaker Chief Minister in my political life,” he added.
Officers under pressure, Secretariat under siege
KTR said honest officers are being sidelined while corrupt leaders use the Secretariat for illegal contracts and deals. He accused Ministers of operating like the Dandupalya gang and looting the State.
“Even top bureaucrats are under pressure to act illegally. Many are quitting rather than bend to the will of these Ministers,” he said.
‘From Indiramma Rajyam to mafia state’
The BRS leader alleged that corruption now extends from village offices to the top of the Secretariat. “Telangana is no longer Indiramma Rajyam. It’s a mafia state,” he said.
He claimed Ministers are competing to make hundreds of crores, while the Chief Minister amasses even more. He pointed to a case where a Minister’s daughter admitted that industrialists were threatened at gunpoint. “There’s video evidence. Yet the CM and Minister greeted each other like nothing happened,” he said.
Police bias and BJP silence questioned
Rama Rao called on the DGP to investigate the gun threat incident. “The police must reveal who gave the gun and who used it. If the DGP is honest, he must act now,” he demanded.
He also accused the BJP of staying silent to protect Congress. “This is a joint venture. Neither Amit Shah nor any central leader has spoken. The BJP is shielding the Congress,” he said.
