Konda Surekha, husband meet Revanth Reddy amid OSD row, seek clarity

Hyderabad: Minister Konda Surekha and her husband held a closed-door meeting with Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy in Hyderabad on Monday. The visit, made during Diwali celebrations, also involved TPCC working president Mahesh Kumar Goud.

According to sources, the couple used the meeting to explain recent political developments and address tensions linked to the fallout over Surekha’s former Officer on Special Duty (OSD), Sumanth.

Fallout from Jubilee Hills episode

Earlier this month, dramatic scenes unfolded outside Konda Surekha’s Jubilee Hills residence. Plainclothes officers from the Warangal Task Force arrived to arrest Sumanth after the state government terminated him from the OSD role.

Surekha’s daughter, Konda Sushmita Patel, physically blocked the officers at the gate and later made sensational allegations to the media. She accused CM Revanth Reddy, ministers Uttam Kumar Reddy and Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, MLC Vem Narender Reddy, and senior leader Kadiyam Srihari of orchestrating a political conspiracy against their family.

Sushmita alleged that the Congress leadership was targeting her mother, a BC minister, to suppress her politically. She said the “Reddy lobby” within the party was working against their family’s interests.

Meeting seeks political reassurance

During Monday’s meeting, the Konda couple reportedly briefed Revanth Reddy on their version of events. They are believed to have sought clarity over the government’s stance and expressed concern about the political messaging surrounding the OSD controversy.

The meeting comes amid growing speculation about internal power tussles within the Congress, especially in the run-up to key elections.
