Komatireddy launches Congress municipal poll campaign in Malkajgiri

Hyderabad: Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy launched the Congress municipal poll campaign in Malkajgiri Parliamentary constituency on Wednesday. He began with a rally in Medchal Assembly segment.

The campaign covered Ellampet, Moodu Chintalapally, and Aliyabad municipalities. A strong turnout of party workers added momentum to the Congress effort from the start.

Congress to choose candidates based on public connect

At a meeting in Shubham Function Hall, Aliyabad, Komatireddy said the Congress, with its 150-year legacy, had played a key role in achieving Telangana statehood. He promised to reward committed workers and said candidate selection would be transparent and survey-based. Preference would go to those with strong local support and winning chances.

He added that AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge and Chief Minister Revanth Reddy had entrusted him with leading the campaign. He pledged to ensure Congress wins in every municipality under the constituency.

Criticising BRS leader K.T. Rama Rao, Komatireddy dismissed his political claims as “a joke.” He questioned how a party that failed to win even one parliamentary seat could aim to return to power. Referring to recent sarpanch polls, he said Congress-backed candidates had performed well and challenged BRS to cross even 10 percent in the upcoming municipal elections.

Komatireddy also took aim at former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao for skipping Assembly sessions while receiving a public salary. He blamed the previous regime for pushing Telangana into debt through reckless borrowing.

He reaffirmed that the Congress government was committed to its guarantees. Programs like fine rice distribution and Indiramma housing would be implemented in phases. He expressed confidence that Congress would remain in power for five more years, while BRS returning to office was, in his words, “a distant dream.”
