Hyderabad: Minister for Roads & Buildings Komatireddy Venkat Reddy on Sunday described former minister Ramreddy Damodar Reddy as a “true son of the Congress party.” He said the late leader devoted his entire life to the party and always stood by its workers.
Komatireddy attended a condolence meeting in Thungathurthy along with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy, Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, senior leader V. Hanumantha Rao, and other Congress leaders. The gathering paid tribute to Damodar Reddy’s contributions and honoured his political legacy.
Addressing the event, Komatireddy recalled that Damodar Reddy was the lone Congress MLA in the district in 1985. Nevertheless, he worked tirelessly across all constituencies. His commitment to the party never wavered.
He described the veteran leader’s passing as an irreparable loss for Congress. Moreover, he credited Damodar Reddy with transforming the drought-hit Thungathurthy region by ensuring the supply of Sriram Sagar Project water to farmlands.
Damodar Reddy remembered for his irrigation efforts
Komatireddy stated that Damodar Reddy’s efforts turned a barren land green. He pointed out that the leader even brought then Opposition Leader Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy to witness the condition of the area. Additionally, he emphasised that Damodar Reddy never backed down when confronting injustice.
The Minister acknowledged that some individuals may now attempt to take credit. However, he insisted that the people clearly remember who led the fight for development. He said senior leaders, including the Chief Minister, attended the event to support Damodar Reddy’s family and his loyal cadre.
