Hyderabad: Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy has written an open letter to Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. He urged swift completion of the state government’s proposed takeover of Hyderabad Metro Rail’s Phase I from L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad Ltd.
In his letter, Kishan Reddy noted that the state had approached the Centre seeking approval for Hyderabad Metro Phase II. However, he emphasized that the Centre would move forward only after the state finalises all transactions related to the Phase I takeover from L&T.
He reminded the CM that the central and state governments had agreed to form a joint committee to facilitate this process. The committee was to include two officers from each government. However, the state has yet to submit its nominations, delaying the committee’s formation.
Reddy stated that he had discussed the project’s progress with Union Urban Development Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, who confirmed the Centre’s in-principle approval for Phase II. He reiterated that the central government remains committed to supporting the project. Still, it expects the state to fulfil its part first.
He urged the CM to immediately send the names of two state officers for the joint committee and expedite all necessary arrangements. He also called on the state to complete the L&T takeover swiftly. In addition, he asked them to send proposals for Phase II construction to the Centre without delay.
