HYDERABAD, February 1: Union Minister Kishan Reddy addressed the media on Saturday, discussing the Union Budget 2025-26. He stated that Telangana is a participant in every reform introduced by the central government. The state houses over ten lakh Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), which, along with startup companies, stand to benefit from the budget’s provisions. Reddy announced that Telangana’s MSMEs are set to receive ₹1.5 lakh crore over the next five years. Additionally, urban areas in the state are expected to receive ₹10,000 crore. Through the AMRUT scheme, 125 municipalities and corporations will benefit. He also mentioned that this budget is dedicated to the middle-class population.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman highlighted key announcements in the budget aimed at promoting the manufacturing sector to boost the country’s economy. She noted that essential decisions have been made to support inclusive development and industries. The minister mentioned reductions in duties on certain goods, which is expected to lower the prices of electronics and essential medicines. Conversely, customs duties have been increased on some items.
Meanwhile, Congress leaders have alleged that the central budget has been unjust to Telangana. They criticized the central government for ignoring the state’s requests and expressed dissatisfaction over the lack of allocations for prestigious schemes. As a result, the Revanth government is now compelled to focus specifically on Telangana’s budget. It is reported that the finance department officials have been instructed to prepare the Telangana 2025-26 budget.
