Khalid Saifullah demands apology from Kaushik Reddy over IPS remarks

Hyderabad: Hyderabad District Congress Committee President Syed Khalid Saifullah on Friday strongly condemned BRS MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy’s remarks against a serving IPS officer, calling the allegations baseless and damaging to the integrity of civil services.

In a statement to the media, Khalid Saifullah criticised the MLA for making communal insinuations in matters of law enforcement. He said the remarks were not only irresponsible but also undermined the constitutional values of secularism and equality.

Khalid Saifullah demands apology, slams misuse of position by MLA

Saifullah accused Kaushik Reddy of attempting to deflect attention from ongoing family disputes, which he said had already reached the courts. He claimed that even Reddy’s relatives acknowledged the peaceful conduct of the Medaram Jathara over the last 50 years. This year marked its Golden Jubilee, and the MLA allegedly tried to exploit the occasion for personal credit while disrupting public order and blaming the police.

He further stated that Kaushik Reddy misused his official privileges to pursue a personal agenda and then unfairly targeted an officer performing his legal duties. Such conduct, Saifullah said, violated democratic norms and legal decorum.

The Congress leader asserted that his party stands firmly with honest officers and will resist any attempt to intimidate them for political gain. He urged public representatives to act responsibly and maintain democratic standards in their conduct.

Khalid Saifullah demanded that Kaushik Reddy issue an immediate and unconditional apology to the officer and the police force. He called on authorities to take note and ensure such behaviour is not repeated. He also emphasised that safeguarding institutional independence is vital for effective governance and urged all political leaders to refrain from remarks that harm institutional credibility or social harmony.
