KCR, Harish Rao, KTR lash out over Gulzar Houz fire tragedy, seek action

Hyderabad: Former Chief Minister and BRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao on Saturday reacted sharply to the massive fire near Gulzar Houz in Charminar that claimed 17 lives, calling it a deeply disturbing incident. He expressed shock over the scale of the tragedy and conveyed condolences to the bereaved families.

K Chandrashekar Rao urged the state government to ensure the injured receive the best possible medical care. He also advised that financial assistance be announced for the families of the deceased. Stressing the need for constant vigilance, he called for preventive measures to avoid such disasters in the future.

Harish Rao, Siddipet MLA, termed the Gulzar Houz fire “extremely painful”. Criticising the state’s disaster preparedness, he said that despite a string of fire accidents in Hyderabad, the government had consistently failed to take pre-emptive action.

Calling out what he described as administrative negligence, Harish Rao accused the government of lacking a summer fire prevention strategy. “Innocent civilians are becoming victims of state apathy,” he said, demanding an immediate review of the Fire Services Department’s readiness. He called for ex gratia of ₹25 lakh to each victim’s family.

BRS working president K T Rama Rao also expressed grief over the Mirchowk blaze, extending solidarity with the affected families and wishing a swift recovery for the injured. He said BRS teams were on the ground to assist victims.
