Hyderabad: Telangana Jagruti plans to cultivate active leadership across Telangana, says its president and BRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha.
She delivered the keynote at a political training event titled “Leader” organised by the group on Saturday. Kavitha said an organisation must evolve with new ideas and fresh energy to survive.
She argued that leadership does not emerge by title alone it can begin with anyone, including a housewife. Every leader must learn, adapt and grow. She warned that tread carefully while criticising: sharp critique should not turn into personal abuse.
Kavitha invoked Mahatma Gandhi’s legacy, reminding that he never held electoral office yet remains iconic. She said Gandhigiri must adapt to Telangana Jagruti’s current reality: respond hard when needed, but avoid provoking violence. “Our thoughts must be our weapon,” she stated.
She cited a survey ranking Telangana 11th among socially conscious states. A strong foundation, she said, is rooted in culture. Telangana Jagruti aims to preserve the state’s cultural heritage through active measures.
Over 19 years, the group championed regional identity, defending Telangana dialect, banning films that demeaned local culture, and preserving symbols like tenor kattu, bottu, Bathukamma, and Bonam. Kavitha said the organisation stood firm against media and political pressure on behalf of these values.
Since statehood, she added, Telangana Jagruti has worked for social development and youth skills. She vowed to oppose the Banakacharla project, calling it a threat to Telangana’s image and integrity.
