Kavitha targets Revanth family over alleged illegal constructions on Ayyappa Society lands

Hyderabad: Telangana Rakshana Sena chief Kalvakuntla Kavitha accused Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and his family of making illegal gains from Ayyappa Society lands in Hyderabad. She alleged that the Chief Minister had neglected city infrastructure and focused on illegal earnings. Kavitha gave the government one month to act against unauthorised buildings. Otherwise, she warned, her party would mark the structures with red paint.

She made the remarks at a media conference at the TRS party office in Banjara Hills on Thursday. Kavitha said the Gurukula Trust Board had been established with 150 acres in Ayyappa Society for Telangana students. The initiative, she said, drew inspiration from the Bhoodan movement. Trust chairman Vitthal Rao had fought to protect the land.

Kavitha alleged that 500 to 700 unauthorised buildings had come up in Ayyappa Society at Khanamet since the Congress government took office. Another 80 buildings were under construction, she claimed.

She accused authorities of allowing registrations through notary documents. Officials had also disregarded High Court orders and granted permissions for buildings with 10 to 12 floors, she alleged.

According to Kavitha, illegal construction had spread across survey numbers 11/18 to 44 and survey number 12. She demanded a comprehensive survey of the area. The government should take strict action against buildings without valid permissions and fire safety arrangements, she said.

Ayyappa Society lands: Kavitha alleges threats to media

Kavitha said media personnel who visited the area to report on unauthorised buildings faced threats from property owners. The reports included details of buildings identified through Google Maps. Some owners allegedly told reporters that the government stood behind them.

Questioning the government’s response, she asked whether the state was being run by an elected government or a system dominated by rowdy elements. She also alleged that the Chief Minister’s brothers were personally involved in securing illegal building permissions.

Kavitha compared the alleged inaction in Hyderabad with the midnight demolition of poor people’s houses in Manthani. She questioned why the government had failed to stop large-scale unauthorised construction in Ayyappa Society.

She also sought information on the land issue under the Right to Information Act. Criticising the state’s RTI system, she called it a joke. The government should survey Khanamet immediately, she said. It should act against buildings lacking approvals and fire safety measures.

Responding to Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit to Telangana, Kavitha said 320 mandals in the state were facing drought conditions. She criticised Shah for focusing on politics instead of announcing central assistance. Kavitha also called it ridiculous for the BJP to speak of contesting the GHMC elections without providing financial assistance to the state.

She further accused the Chief Minister and Minister Tummala of making conflicting statements on the availability of Godavari and Krishna waters. Their remarks had confused farmers, she said. Kavitha demanded an immediate solution to the power shortage. She also urged women to participate in large numbers in the graduate constituency elections.
