HYDERABAD: IT & Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu has issued a clarification regarding recent reports surrounding 400 acres of land in Survey No. 25 of Kancha Gachibowli, Serilingampally Mandal, Ranga Reddy district. The Minister affirmed that the land is government-owned and has now been allocated to TGIIC for sustainable infrastructure development.
According to Sridhar Babu, the land was originally allotted in 2003 by the then Andhra Pradesh government to IMG Academies Bharat Pvt. Ltd. for the development of sports facilities. However, the project never took off. In 2006, the Congress-led government cancelled the allocation due to regulatory violations.
The cancellation was contested by IMG Academies in the High Court, which upheld the government’s decision on 7 March 2024. A Special Leave Petition (SLP) filed by IMG in the Supreme Court was subsequently dismissed on 3 May 2024.
Citing official revenue records, the Deputy Collector and Tahsildar of Serilingampally confirmed that the 400-acre land parcel belongs to the government. It has also been clarified that the land is not under the jurisdiction of the Forest Department or any other agency.
Under the state’s revised land allocation policy, the Revenue Department issued orders on 26 June 2024 to transfer the land to Telangana Government Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TGIIC). The official handover took place on 1 July 2024.
Addressing environmental concerns, TGIIC confirmed that there are no natural water bodies like Buffalo Lake or Peacock Lake within the 400 acres. However, it stated that unique geological features such as mushroom rocks and other rock formations would be preserved as part of a designated green zone. A detailed environmental protection plan has been developed and is set for implementation.
Minister Sridhar Babu emphasised that there has been no encroachment, nor have any lakes or rock structures been disturbed. The planned development aims to create world-class infrastructure while ensuring ecological balance and sustainability.
TGIIC is expected to soon float tenders for the integrated development of the site.
