Jogu Ramanna placed under house arrest ahead of CM Adilabad tour

Hyderabad: Police on Friday placed BRS leader and former minister Jogu Ramanna under house arrest ahead of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s visit to Adilabad district, citing law and order concerns.

Police took the preventive step after Ramanna announced plans to obstruct the Chief Minister’s tour. As part of the action, police deployed a heavy force outside the former minister’s residence. Officials said the move aimed to prevent any mobilisation or protests linked to the BRS leader. For context, the preventive actions stemmed from ongoing developments involving Jogu Ramanna.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is set to tour the erstwhile Adilabad district on Friday amid heightened security following the action against Jogu Ramanna. According to the schedule, the Chief Minister will depart from Begumpet by helicopter at 10.50 am and reach Adilabad as planned.

During the visit, the Chief Minister will inaugurate the Chanaka Korata pump house. He will also release water from the project. Later, he will inaugurate the Sadar Mat barrage in Nirmal district, as police continue security measures following the house arrest of the former minister. Notably, the investigation of Jogu Ramanna’s actions has influenced these security protocols.

CM Revanth Reddy’s Adilabad tour schedule

In the afternoon, at around 3 pm, Revanth Reddy will address a public meeting at the Nirmal Mini Stadium. Authorities are holding the meeting amid tight security after police placed Jogu Ramanna under preventive detention.

As per the itinerary, the Chief Minister will conclude the tour by 4 pm and return to Hyderabad the same evening.

Police officials said they put security arrangements in place across the district. They added that the measures aim to ensure a smooth tour and prevent any untoward incidents linked to the situation involving Ramanna. Overall, all these events occurred in the context of Jogu Ramanna and his recent house arrest.
