Hyderabad: Jagtial MLA Sanjay Kumar on Monday said the government had initiated steps to prepare a master plan for the integrated development of Jagtial town. He was speaking after inspecting ongoing civic works in Ward 40 of the district headquarters.
₹62.5 crore sanctioned for town upgrades
Kumar stated that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy had approved ₹62.5 crore for the town’s development. He clarified that the funds were sanctioned under the Urban Infrastructure Development Fund (UIDF) through the National Housing Bank and not directly by the Centre, countering claims made by some sections. The state government, he added, is responsible for repaying the amount over the next seven years.
In addition to the UIDF funds, the state has granted another ₹12.5 crore from its own budget, the MLA said.
Regularisation, master planning underway
The MLA highlighted that residents earlier faced construction hurdles due to lack of permissions. To address this, authorities have regularised 126 survey numbers across affected areas. Kumar said the government aims to formulate a comprehensive master plan with inputs from all community segments.
He directed officials and contractors to maintain quality standards and complete the development works on time.
Former municipal chairman Giri Nagabhushanam, officials including AE Sharan, and local leaders Srinivas, Shivakesari Babu, Anil, and Mahesh were present.
