JAC thanks CM Revanth for restoring rural revenue system, urges resolution of pending service issues
Hyderabad: The Telangana Village Revenue Officers and Grama Palana Officers JAC (TVRO-GPO JAC) met Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy on Wednesday and expressed gratitude to the state government for restoring the rural revenue system dismantled by the previous administration.
JAC Chairman Golkonda Satish led the delegation to the minister’s chamber at Ambedkar Secretariat. They also submitted a memorandum to Chief Commissioner of Land Revenue Lokesh Kumar IAS. Their appeal included longstanding demands such as job security, promotions, and clear operational roles.
Rural revenue revival seen as a boost to farmers
The JAC praised Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s decision to reintroduce the village-level governance model. The new system, involving 5,106 Grama Palana Officers, has improved service delivery and made land administration more accessible to citizens.
According to the JAC, the dismantling of the earlier VRO framework by the TRS government led to land misuse and weaker rural oversight. They noted that restoring the system now empowers field staff to recover encroached lands and stop illegal sand mining.
They added that the renewed focus will speed up the issuing of key documents such as caste, income, residence, and birth certificates. It will also ease the processing of pension applications and unresolved Sadabainama land claims.
Delegation seeks staff protection and posting reforms
The JAC called on the government to settle pending service-related issues. These include seniority, job security for former VROs, and fair promotion policies. They also recommended allowing GPOs to work outside their home mandals to ensure better public service.
The team raised concerns about threats from land encroachers and sand mafia groups. They requested that the government provide legal and administrative backing to officers working in the field. A dedicated task force may be needed, they suggested, to safeguard government land and enforce rules on illegal sand transport.
The JAC referred to CM Revanth Reddy’s recent speech at HICC. They said his words had restored the dignity of revenue employees. “The TRS government used corruption claims to scrap the VRO system, yet ignored its own failings in the Kaleshwaram project,” they stated.
Minister promises issue-based review
Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy assured the delegation that the government would soon convene a detailed review meeting. He promised to look into all outstanding concerns and emphasized his department’s commitment to protecting field-level officers and strengthening rural services.
Several senior officials, union leaders, and JAC members from across Telangana took part in the meeting.
