Governor calls for integrating Indian knowledge traditions with modern education

Hyderabad: Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla called for integrating Indian knowledge traditions with modern education and scientific learning to prepare younger generations for the future.

He said education should extend beyond employability and contribute to overall personality development. Moreover, he stressed the importance of ethical values and social responsibility in education.

Shukla spoke as the chief guest at a seminar in Varanasi on Saturday. Dainik Jagran organised the seminar on “Bharatiya Gyan Parampara and New Generation: Education, Values and the Future.”

The Governor said India’s rich intellectual heritage should become more accessible to younger generations. He referred to the knowledge contained in the Vedas and Upanishads.

He also highlighted India’s contributions to yoga, Ayurveda, mathematics and astronomy. According to Shukla, educators should connect this intellectual heritage with contemporary learning.

Indian knowledge traditions should complement scientific outlook

Shukla said education should combine traditional values with a scientific outlook. In particular, he highlighted integrity, a sense of duty, compassion and responsibility towards nature.

The Governor said these values should remain relevant as education evolved to meet contemporary requirements. At the same time, he emphasised the importance of scientific learning in preparing younger generations for the future.

His remarks focused on connecting Indian knowledge traditions with contemporary education while retaining ethical values and social responsibility. During the seminar, Shukla also recalled the contributions of the late Narendra Mohan. Mohan had served as Editor-in-Chief of Dainik Jagran and as a Rajya Sabha member.
