Hyderabad: Khairatabad police seized about 1,000 kilograms of illegally transported Public Distribution System (PDS) rice during a special drive on November 5.
The operation began at 1:30 p.m. when the DCP Central Zone team, working with local police, caught Md. Azar, 24, of BJR Nagar, moving PDS rice on a two-wheeler (TS09FV3081). He had collected the rice from local beneficiaries and was on his way to deliver it to his associate, Abdul Rahman.
Police followed Azar to Rahman’s house in BJR Nagar. They stopped him as he was unloading the rice into the building.
Inside the house, officers found 27 plastic bags filled with around 1,000 kilograms (10 quintals) of PDS rice. Police have filed a case and are continuing the investigation.
