Hyderabad: Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRA) officials on Monday razed a 7-acre compound wall in Pocharam municipality, acting on allegations that the structure was built using forged land records. The demolition was carried out in the Ekashila Nagar layout, following a complaint from local plot owners.
Officials said the wall, encircling land in Survey Nos. 740, 741, and 742 at Korremula, was constructed by one Nune Venkata Narayana, who had claimed ownership by producing allegedly fabricated documents. The land had been marked as agricultural in revenue records.
The Ekashila Plot Owners’ Association accused the builder of manipulating documents and approached HYDRA seeking intervention. Association members said they had purchased the plots after due verification of all legal records and demanded that the encroachment be removed.
The demolition comes days after HYDRA took similar action in Divyanagar. Teams were dispatched early in the morning and brought down the entire perimeter wall around the disputed site.
While association members welcomed the move, Venkata Narayana said the demolition was unjustified and that officials did not verify his ownership documents before acting.
