Hyderabad: Hyderabadi girl Mehrunisha won a Silver Medal for India in Logistics and Freight Forwarding at the 48th WorldSkills Competition in Shanghai, China.
She competed against highly skilled participants from across the world. Moreover, she demonstrated expertise in international logistics, freight forwarding, documentation, routing, commercial decision-making and customer handling.
The WorldSkills Competition was held in Shanghai from September 22 to 27, 2026. Around 1,400 young professionals from nearly 70 countries and regions competed across 64 skills.
WorldSkills is one of the world’s largest international platforms for vocational and professional skills. In addition, the competition enables young professionals to test their knowledge and practical abilities against international occupational standards.
Mehrunisha completed her BBA in Logistics from Begumpet Degree College in Hyderabad. She was working with Cargomen Logistics India Pvt. Ltd. when she represented India at the competition.
At Cargomen, she handled the Thermo Fisher Scientific account. As a result, she gained practical exposure to international logistics operations, customer coordination, documentation and freight-management processes.

Before the competition, Mehrunisha underwent intensive preparation under Kamal Jain and the training team. The programme covered international freight forwarding, air and ocean cargo, multimodal transport and freight calculations.
It also included Incoterms, customs procedures, documentation and dangerous goods. Furthermore, customer communication and practical problem-solving formed part of her preparation.
The Logistics Sector Skill Council provided training and institutional support during her WorldSkills journey. The council promoted skill development and industry-aligned competencies in India’s logistics sector.
Logistics and Freight Forwarding supports international trade and global supply chains. Therefore, competitors were tested on freight planning, international transportation, documentation and customs compliance.
They were also assessed on cargo handling, costing, routing, Incoterms, customer service and operational problem-solving. These areas formed part of the professional capabilities required in international logistics operations.
Meanwhile, the WorldSkills platform brought together young professionals from manufacturing, technology, services, transportation, construction and logistics. Participants competed against international peers under occupational standards.
The Hyderabadi girl Mehrunisha represented India’s capabilities in logistics at the international competition. Her performance followed academic training, industry experience, specialised preparation and structured mentorship.
The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship promoted vocational and professional skills through the Skill India ecosystem. In addition, the National Skill Development Corporation played a key role in coordinating India’s participation in WorldSkills.
The NSDC also supported the development of India’s national skill competition ecosystem. Through IndiaSkills and WorldSkills, young professionals received opportunities to build industry-relevant competencies and represent India internationally.
Mehrunisha’s journey began with logistics education in Hyderabad and continued with practical experience at Cargomen. She then underwent structured training before competing on the international stage.
Her Silver Medal brought attention to logistics and supply chain management as a professional field with international opportunities. The 48th WorldSkills Competition concluded in Shanghai on September 27, 2026.
