Hyderabad: The Hyderabad City Security Council (HCSC), in collaboration with Hyderabad City Police, hosted the two-day Traffic & Road Safety Summit 2025 at Jal Vihar, Necklace Road, bringing together stakeholders from across sectors to shape future strategies for safer urban mobility.
Inaugurated by Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma, the summit featured insights from top law enforcement officials, policymakers, academics, corporate partners, and civic groups. The Governor stressed that road safety goes beyond congestion. “It’s about saving lives, reducing stress, and making cities truly livable,” he said.
He praised HCSC as a model of public–government partnership and called for inclusive safety measures across both Old and New City areas. “Summits like these are not symbolic—they lead to action,” he added.
Hyderabad’s traffic reflects its identity
Commissioner of Police C.V. Anand noted that with 92 lakh vehicles and 1,500 new additions each day, traffic management is critical to Hyderabad’s livability. “Traffic is the city’s face,” he said, while outlining key initiatives including:
- Operation ROPE to remove illegal parking and encroachments
- AI-based traffic solutions in partnership with Google
- Drone and high-rise surveillance systems
- 120 traffic marshals deployed with support from corporate partners
He highlighted a 30% pay incentive for traffic personnel in recognition of their service.
Call for coordinated action and reform
HCSC Secretary General C. Shekhar Reddy emphasized shared ownership in solving traffic problems. “When communities, corporates, and enforcement unite, solutions become sustainable,” he said.
Additional CP Vikram Singh Mann stressed the summit’s role as a “working platform” and assured that recommendations would be implemented.
Joint Secretary V. Rajashekhar Reddy flagged the mismatch between vehicle growth and road capacity. He called for:
- Integrated urban mobility
- Transit-oriented planning
- Adaptive traffic signals
- Structured parking systems
- Continuous footpaths and safe crossings
Joint CP Traffic Joel Davis closed the event by reaffirming the collective commitment: “This summit is just the beginning. What we build from here will define Hyderabad’s future mobility.”
