Hyderabad: Jubilee Hills Police arrested two persons, including a domestic worker, in connection with a theft of gold jewellery worth over ₹25 lakh from a residence in Sai Krishna Residency. The theft, reported on January 21, 2026, involved 429 grams of gold ornaments. Police have recovered 178.32 grams of gold, 121 grams of silver, and ₹5 lakh in cash from the accused.
The accused identified as Juttuka Durga Bhavani, 32, and Juttuka Papa Rao, 27 were apprehended near Sri Krishna Nagar, Yusufguda on January 30 while preparing to flee to Visakhapatnam. Police said the two, who are related and in a relationship, conspired to sell the stolen property to start a new life together.
Hyderabad servant theft case cracked with gold and cash recovery
The complainant, SBI Branch Manager S.L.S. Mahita, reported that gold jewellery kept in her master bedroom almirah had gone missing. She last saw the items intact on November 5, 2025. Upon discovering the loss on January 10 and confirming the theft on January 17, she raised suspicion against her domestic help, Durga Bhavani.
Following investigation under Crime No. 38/2026 U/Sec 306 BNS, the police traced and arrested the suspects. The duo confessed to the crime during interrogation.
Recovered property includes:
- Gold ornaments weighing 178.32 grams
- Silver ornaments weighing 121 grams
- ₹5,00,000 in cash
- ₹40,000 in a frozen SBI account
- ₹1.58 lakh in a Bank of Baroda account (awaiting freeze)
Police also identified pledged items at Attica Gold branches in Kukatpally and Punjagutta. These unrecovered items include:
- One Steps Beads Necklace
- One Papidi Pindi
- A pair of Flower Earrings
- One Lakshmi Devi Long Chain
- One Lakshmi Devi Haram
- One Hanuman Chain
Public advised to verify domestic help
Hyderabad Police urged residents to conduct proper police verification of domestic help, drivers, and other household staff. Citizens are advised to maintain records, secure valuables, and report any suspicious activity without delay.
