Hyderabad: Hyderabad Ganesh immersion processions have continued peacefully and on a grand scale since yesterday, Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar, IPS, said. He thanked the public for cooperating with police and helping prevent any untoward incidents.
Lakhs of devotees arrived with their families at Tank Bund, NTR Marg, Necklace Road, Liberty and Mozamjahi Market. As a result, vehicle movement slowed and the immersion process was delayed slightly.
The procession was expected to continue until this afternoon. Meanwhile, police and traffic personnel have continued working to complete the Hyderabad Ganesh immersion process as quickly as possible.
Traffic restrictions have also remained in place today on the major routes used by the procession. Police said ordinary vehicles would not be allowed around Tank Bund, Necklace Road, NTR Marg, PV Statue and Indira Gandhi Rotary because of the heavy movement of idols.

Sajjanar urged ordinary motorists to completely avoid these routes unless travel was essential. He advised commuters to postpone their journeys or choose alternative routes instead.
He also asked motorists not to enter the roads unnecessarily and become stranded in traffic. According to the commissioner, commuters should monitor official advisories and instructions issued by the traffic department.
The commissioner appealed to Hyderabad residents to cooperate fully with the police machinery while the procession and immersion arrangements continued. The traffic restrictions were intended to facilitate the ongoing immersion operations and manage the movement of devotees and vehicles.
