Hyderabad: City police arrested 11 people accused of practising medicine without recognised qualifications during simultaneous raids across several parts of Hyderabad.
Police said the Hyderabad fake doctors had been treating patients despite lacking the required medical education and recognised degrees. The arrests followed credible information about their activities in the city.
Police teams conducted raids at multiple locations and caught 11 alleged fake medical practitioners while they were operating as doctors.
Investigators found that the accused had been writing prescriptions and administering injections to patients. They had also allegedly prescribed antibiotics despite having no recognised qualifications to practise medicine.
Police said the accused had misled ordinary people by presenting themselves as qualified medical professionals. Their activities had also put patients at risk, according to the investigation.
Hyderabad fake doctors allegedly ran private clinics
The investigation found that some of the accused had operated private clinics using fake certificates. Others had allegedly used the names of prominent super-speciality hospitals while offering medical services.
During the raids, police searched the clinics linked to the accused. They seized a large quantity of fake letterheads from the premises. Police also recovered unauthorised medicines and medical equipment from the clinics. Investigators examined the material as part of the cases against the accused.
The arrests exposed the alleged operation of unqualified practitioners across different parts of Hyderabad. Police said the accused had provided treatment without possessing the necessary medical credentials.
Senior police officials warned that strict action would follow against people who practised medicine without valid qualifications.
Meanwhile, officials appealed to residents to verify the credentials of medical practitioners before seeking treatment. They urged people not to obtain treatment from individuals who lacked recognised medical qualifications.
