Hyderabad: Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Anand Sajjanar on Tuesday issued a strong warning against drunk driving. He said the city police would continue to enforce a zero tolerance on drunk driving policy with no exceptions. Maintaining zero tolerance on drunk driving is essential for public safety.
Posting a message on social media platform X, Sajjanar urged citizens not to flee from checkpoints or perform dangerous stunts on the roads. “Driving under the influence is not smart it’s dangerous and irresponsible,” he cautioned.
Sajjanar: ‘Drunk driving is like inviting death’
The Commissioner warned that accidents caused by intoxicated drivers could claim any life the driver’s or a bystander’s. Families suffer lifelong grief, he said, and no one can predict whose life might be shattered. Such reasons underscore the approach.
He appealed to parents to consider the pain they endure for their children and not let one careless moment ruin a future. “Driving in an intoxicated state is like inviting death,” Sajjanar said.
He added, “Even if Yama forgives you, the law will not.” He explained that Hyderabad Police value every life, which is why these warnings are firm and uncompromising.
The city police will continue intensive enforcement through regular checkpoints. Sajjanar confirmed that drunk driving checks will remain strict and frequent, in line with the zero tolerance on policy.
