High Court denies Vishnupriya’s petition to quash FIRs in betting apps case

HYDERABAD: The Telangana High Court has denied actress Vishnupriya’s petition seeking to quash two First Information Reports (FIRs) filed against her for allegedly promoting betting apps. The court refused to stay the investigation and directed her to cooperate with the police inquiry.

Recently, the Panjagutta and Miyapur police registered cases against 11 celebrities and social media influencers, including Vishnupriya, for promoting betting apps. Following this, Vishnupriya appeared before the Panjagutta police on March 20 for questioning and was scheduled to appear again on March 25. Instead, she approached the High Court seeking to quash the FIRs against her.

The High Court, after hearing her petition, declined to dismiss the FIRs or halt the investigation. It instructed Vishnupriya to cooperate with the police and directed the authorities to proceed with the inquiry in accordance with the law.
