Harish Rao slams Congress, BJP over municipal posts

Hyderabad: Former minister Harish Rao alleged that Congress and BJP entered into an illegal understanding to secure chairman and vice-chairman posts in municipalities and accused both parties of lacking ideological commitment.

He made the remarks at Telangana Bhavan during KCR’s birthday celebrations. On the occasion, he joined BRS working president K T Rama Rao in cutting a cake. Thereafter, they released a documentary on KCR’s Telangana movement and his decade-long rule.

Speaking to party leaders, Harish Rao said Congress and BJP leaders were moving together in municipal elections. Moreover, he claimed the two parties had set aside principles for political gain. According to him, their coordination in local bodies exposed an opportunistic arrangement.

Meanwhile, Harish Rao said KCR had given up positions “like blades of grass” for Telangana. He added that no leader in history had endured as many abuses and curses as KCR. At the same time, he remarked that perhaps no one would face such attacks in the future.

However, he said, despite repeated conspiracies, KCR showed unwavering resolve and achieved statehood. Consequently, he stated, KCR secured a separate Telangana and presented it to millions of people. Even if opponents attempted further conspiracies, he added, KCR’s determination would remain firm.
