Harish Rao slams CM Revanth Reddy over Krishna, Godavari remarks

Hyderabad: Former minister and BRS leader Harish Rao launched a sharp attack on Chief Minister Revanth Reddy over his recent remarks on Krishna and Godavari river issues.

Responding on social media platform X, BRS leader He accused Revanth Reddy of making false statements. According to him, the Chief Minister lacked clarity on TMCs, cusecs and river basins.

Moreover, Harish Rao said it was now evident that Revanth Reddy had no basic understanding of water sharing. He alleged that the Chief Minister did not know the difference between the Bachawat Tribunal and the Brijesh Tribunal.

Harish Rao questions the CM’s conduct and comments

Meanwhile, Harish Rao strongly objected to Revanth Reddy comparing former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar with terrorist Ajmal Kasab. He said such remarks crossed all limits of political decency.

According to Him, KCR achieved Telangana after years of sacrifice and struggle. Therefore, comparing him with a terrorist reflected poor judgment and a lack of respect.

At the same time, Harish Rao raised questions on Polavaram and Nallamala Sagar. He asked why the government held meetings in Delhi and formed committees if it genuinely planned to fight the Godavari Banakacherla issue in the Supreme Court.

Harish Rao disputes claims on Krishna water share

Turning to Krishna waters, Harish Rao rejected Revanth Reddy’s claim that KCR agreed to only 299 TMCs. He termed the statement a blatant lie.

Instead, Harish Rao pointed out that Telangana wrote to the Centre within 42 days of state formation. He said the letter demanded the redistribution of 811 TMCs, which contradicted the Chief Minister’s claim.

Further, He recalled that KCR had sought nearly 69 per cent share for Telangana. He questioned why the Centre received 28 letters seeking 50:50 sharing until the Brijesh Tribunal’s final award.

Additionally, he accused Revanth Reddy of ignoring the Apex Council meeting minutes. He also questioned why the case was withdrawn after the Centre assured redistribution under Section 3.

Defending the previous BRS government, He said it secured Krishna water redistribution after years of sustained effort. In contrast, he alleged that the present government failed to obtain even one new approval for the Palamuru-Rangareddy project.

Finally, Harish Rao warned that farmers dependent on Jurala, Nettampadu, Bheema and Koilsagar projects were already facing hardship. He said any additional burden would worsen the water crisis.
