Harish Rao hails KCR’s decade-long farm initiatives

Hyderabad: Senior BRS leader and former minister T Harish Rao on Sunday credited the ten-year rule of K Chandrashekar Rao with driving sweeping transformation across Telangana, particularly in the farming sector.

Harish Rao, in a social media post, claimed the former chief minister’s farmer-focused measures had dramatically improved conditions on the ground. He listed the Rythu Bandhu cash assistance scheme, two phases of farm loan waivers, and major irrigation ventures, including the Kaleshwaram and Palamuru-Rangareddy projects, as key interventions.

He further highlighted uninterrupted supply of urea, quality seeds, mechanisation support, and appointment of agriculture extension officers for every 5,000 acres. According to him, the state had established more than 2,500 Rythu Vedikas to promote farmer welfare, alongside Mission Kakatiy, which helped restore tanks and recharge groundwater.

Harish Rao said the provision of 24-hour free power for agriculture, the Asara pension programme, and financial support for girls’ marriages were crucial elements of social security. Educational measures included timely fee reimbursements, overseas scholarships, over 1,000 residential schools, and degree colleges for women aimed at supporting SC/ST farming families.

He argued these policies boosted rural infrastructure and collectively led to a historic reduction in farmer suicides. Terming it an “all-time record,” he praised K Chandrashekar Rao’s leadership for prioritising farmers and rural Telangana.
