HYDERABAD: Senior BRS leader and former minister Harish Rao launched a scathing attack on the Telangana government, accusing it of failing to support farmers and mishandling procurement policies. Speaking at a press conference, Rao alleged that the government’s negligence in managing irrigation under the Godavari and Krishna river basins has led to crop failure.
He further stated that the government has completely failed in procuring paddy from farmers, leaving them in financial distress. “Even after harvesting their crops, farmers are not receiving investment support. The government is neither providing proper irrigation facilities nor ensuring a fair procurement system,” he added.
Harish Rao also accused the ruling party of avoiding accountability in the Assembly. “Unable to provide answers, they canceled the question hour. This government is running away because it cannot face the BRS,” he remarked.
He took a dig at Telangana Congress President and Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy, stating, “Uttam claims responsibility if crops wither under irrigation projects, but what about the current situation? Farmers are suffering due to government negligence.”
