Govt to issue journalist accreditation orders within 10 days: Ponguleti

Hyderabad: Revenue and Information Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy on Saturday assured that government orders (GOs) related to journalist accreditation cards would be issued within the next ten days. He reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to addressing long-standing demands concerning accreditation and housing plots for media professionals.

The Minister was scheduled to attend the Telangana Working Journalists Federation (TWJF) general body meeting at SR Convention Hall in Khammam. However, due to an urgent trip to Hyderabad, he addressed the gathering by phone. He shared key updates on pending media welfare measures.

Journalist accreditation orders ready, housing plots next

Ponguleti said the accreditation card process, long delayed and eagerly awaited by journalists across Telangana, had reached its final stage. “The GO will be issued within ten days,” he said. He reassured that every eligible journalist will receive the card without hurdles.

He also addressed the issue of housing plots for journalists, which has seen multiple delays. The Minister explained that earlier legal obstacles, including Supreme Court orders, had slowed the process. However, after detailed discussions with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, he said the government has found a way forward. “We will deliver good news on this front next year,” he added.

Reiterating the government’s responsibility to safeguard the dignity and welfare of journalists, Ponguleti praised the TWJF leadership. He recognized their efforts in consistently raising industry concerns.

A large number of journalists and TWJF representatives from both state and district levels attended the event.
