Hyderabad: Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma on Monday visited Warangal and Hanamkonda districts, where he attended the 23rd convocation of Kakatiya University and interacted with district officials on TB eradication efforts.
Addressing graduating students on the Kakatiya University campus, the Governor congratulated medal winners and praised the institution’s achievements. He called the convocation a moment of transition to a life of responsibility, telling students, “You are not just receiving degrees, but the trust of the nation.”
The Governor highlighted the University’s A+ NAAC accreditation in 2023 and its ranking in the 151–200 band in the NIRF 2024 rankings. He also noted that the College of Pharmaceutical Sciences was ranked 84th nationally, while the University stood 3rd in the UI Green Metric rankings, leading in Telangana.
Later, at the IDOC in Hanamkonda, the Governor held an interactive session with the District Collectors of Warangal and Hanamkonda to review TB eradication progress. He appreciated the efforts of the health departments and local administrations, stressing the need for community involvement, early diagnosis, and awareness to achieve the goal of a TB-free India.
The Governor also encouraged the Indian Red Cross Society’s district branches to actively support local administrations in tackling TB. He commended Sri Engala Venkat Ram Reddy, Managing Trustee of Engala Charitable Trust, for donating ₹60,000 to provide monthly food baskets for 10 TB patients over one year.
Governor Varma was accompanied by Warangal District Collector Dr. Satya Sharada, Hanamkonda District Collector Smt. Sneha Shabarish, and other senior officials.
