Governor Jishnu Dev Varma calls for innovation at Palamuru University

Hyderabad: Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma urged university graduates to become innovators and job creators instead of focusing only on employment. He said students should use their education to generate opportunities for others. The Governor spoke at the fourth convocation ceremony of Palamuru University on Thursday.

He said a convocation is not just a celebration but also a reminder of duty and determination. Society, he noted, places great expectations on graduates. Therefore, he urged them to excel in their chosen fields with courage and humility. “Education must awaken imagination and curiosity, not serve only as a route to jobs,” he said.

The Governor encouraged students to act as guiding lights for the next generation. He praised Palamuru University for achieving notable progress within 15 years. Moreover, he described universities as temples of enlightenment that drive national growth. He appreciated the institution for securing ₹100 crore under the PM-USHA scheme.

He also lauded the university for completing its second accreditation cycle, calling it proof of the dedication shown by the vice-chancellor, teachers, and students. According to him, the progress of society depends on the alertness of both educators and learners.

He said universities must redefine their goals to match the needs of the 21st century. He warned that drug abuse had become a grave threat and urged people to fight it together. Furthermore, he appealed to every student to plant a sapling in their mother’s name and make it a mass movement.

Governor Dev Varma presented the first honorary doctorate to Mannem Satyanarayana Reddy, founder of MSN Laboratories and a native of Palamuru. He praised Reddy’s hard work and global success in the pharmaceutical industry.

IG L.S. Chauhan, government representative in Delhi, Jitender Reddy, MLA Anno Srinivas Reddy, District Collector Vijayendra Boyi, SP Janaki, and Vice-Chancellor G.N. Srinivas also attended the event.
