Governor highlights BITSIANS’ role in nation’s tech growth at BITSAA global meet

Hyderabad: Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma on Friday highlighted the critical contribution of BITS Pilani alumni to India’s technology-led growth. He said this while inaugurating the sixth edition of the BITSAA Global Meet at the BITS Pilani Hyderabad Campus.

Addressing the gathering, the Governor said institutions such as Birla Institute of Technology and Science Pilani had played a decisive role in positioning India as a global technology hub. He pointed to the institute’s strong innovation and incubation ecosystem. This includes startups, student-led initiatives, and sustained industry collaboration.

The Governor said BITSIANS across the world were contributing to cutting-edge research, entrepreneurship, and technology leadership. These contributions are thereby strengthening India’s global standing in the digital economy.

BITSAA Global Meet showcases innovation and alumni engagement

Principal Secretary to the Governor Dana Kishore stressed the importance of quality education and advanced technology. He noted BITS Pilani’s role in workforce development and digital transformation. Group Vice-Chancellor V. Ramgopal Rao spoke about the institute’s multi-campus and future-ready education model spanning India and overseas locations.

Veteran investor Kanwal Rekhi emphasised the importance of risk-taking and innovation. He urged alumni to actively mentor and support the next generation of entrepreneurs.

The first day of the meet featured the ‘Pilani Sharks’ startup pitching initiative. It also included workshops on Agentic AI and Digital Wellness. The programme concluded with a cultural evening, including a traditional Qawwali performance. This drew participation from alumni, students, and faculty members.
