Hyderabad: Forest, Environment and Endowments Minister Konda Surekha directed officials to ensure government schemes reach people across Warangal district and ordered focused monitoring of key sectors.
Addressing a joint review meeting on Warangal development held at the Secretariat on Saturday, she told district collectors to inspect government schools, welfare hostels, and Gurukul schools at least once a week, as per Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s directive.
The meeting reviewed Warangal’s airport project, Mega Textile Park, underground drainage system, ORR, Bhadrakali temple development, and urban infrastructure. District in-charge minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy chaired the meeting. Ministers Seethakka, Konda Surekha, MLAs, MPs, and senior officials attended.
Surekha thanked CM Revanth Reddy for allocating funds for Mamunur airport and said land acquisition must begin on a war footing. ₹205 crore was sanctioned two days ago, she said, assuring there were no financial hurdles. She urged veterinary hospitals to be inspected to prevent livestock distress during rains.
She pushed for speedy execution of the Detailed Project Reports, tenders, and works in line with the government’s vision to develop Warangal as Telangana’s second capital. She said employment and local job creation should be prioritised at the Mega Textile Park.
On the Bhadrakali temple works, Surekha asked for all infrastructure—including the Kalyana Mandapam, priest quarters, electricals, ropeway, and glass bridge to be completed before December, with key amenities ready by Dussehra. She said she would personally monitor the temple development.
She directed that the ₹4,170 crore underground drainage project in Warangal city be broken into phases and commenced without delay.
MP Balaram Naik, MLAs Kadiyam Srihari, Revuri Prakash Reddy, Gandra Satyanarayana, Naini Rajender, MLCs, Warangal Mayor Gundu Sudharani, and district SPs and collectors participated.
