Girls to get priority in Phase-I of Young India Residential Schools: CM Revanth Reddy

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Thursday directed officials to prioritise girls’ institutions in the first phase of the Young India Integrated Residential Schools (YIIRS) programme. He said one residential school each for children of all genders would be established in every Assembly constituency within the next three years.

Reviewing the Education Department’s plans at the Secretariat, the Chief Minister called for urgent scaling up of the breakfast and mid-day meal schemes. This should be done in government schools through centralised kitchens—one for every two constituencies. Moreover, he directed officials to explore solar kitchen options under the PM-KUSUM scheme.

New schools, revised curriculum, and job-linked polytechnic focus

Revanth Reddy instructed that 23 new school buildings planned in Greater Hyderabad must be ready before the next academic year. He mandated a minimum of 1.5 acres per school campus. Additionally, he ordered an immediate revision of the school curriculum for Classes I to X to align with future skill and knowledge needs.

He also fast-tracked construction bill clearances related to YIIRS infrastructure. Furthermore, he directed the swift rollout of new polytechnic courses in collaboration with Tata Technologies. The CM reviewed progress on the Veeranari Chakali Ilamma Women’s University. He emphasised the need for job-readiness among graduates from both polytechnic colleges and the Young India Skills University (YISU).

Top officials present at the review included Advisors Vem Narender Reddy, K. Keshava Rao, and P. Sudarshan Reddy; Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao; CM’s Principal Secretary V. Sheshadri; Special Secretary B. Ajit Reddy; Education Secretary Yogita Rana; and heads of various educational boards and institutions.
