GHMC tables ward delimitation plan after merger of 27 municipalities

Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) on Tuesday launched the ward delimitation process following the merger of 27 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) into its limits. The Telangana Gazette notified the merger on December 9, 2025.

During a special Corporation meeting, GHMC presented the preliminary notification under Form-I and asked members to submit their suggestions and objections. The merger brings more areas under a single municipal framework, enabling streamlined civic services and infrastructure planning.

Officials explained that the expansion would allow uniform development and better service delivery across the extended city limits. Each corporator and ex-officio member received two minutes to share their views. Commissioner Karnan and his team took charge of recording all feedback.

“All suggestions, objections, and complaints raised by the Honourable Members will not only be recorded but also submitted to the government for further consideration,” a GHMC official said.

Deputy Mayor Srilatha and Commissioner Karnan joined corporators, officers, and media at the session. The presiding officials urged all members to maintain decorum and contribute constructively.

Commissioner Karnan also briefed the House on the delimitation process. He explained the criteria and methods used to redraw ward boundaries based on the new municipal map.
