Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has ordered the closure of all slaughterhouses and retail meat and beef shops within its jurisdiction on January 30. The decision to shut meat shops is to mark the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
The closure applies to all cattle, sheep, and goat slaughterhouses, as well as retail outlets selling meat and beef. This is in accordance with Section 533 (b) of the GHMC Act, 1955. The decision follows a resolution passed by the GHMC Standing Committee.
GHMC officials have been instructed to strictly implement the closure order to shut meat shops. The Corporation also urged meat shop owners and the public to cooperate as a gesture of respect for the occasion.
