Fire damages 100 paddy bags in rice mill near Ellareddypet, ₹50,000 loss

Hyderabad: A fire broke out at Sri Venkateswara Rice Mill in Bandalingampalli village of Ellareddypet mandal on Friday, damaging 100 bags of paddy and causing an estimated loss of ₹50,000 at Ellareddypet rice mill fire.

Quick response by locals prevents major damage

According to rice mill owner Anjireddy, the fire started around 4:30 PM due to an electrical short circuit. He said overhead wires made contact, sparking flames that spread toward a heap of paddy worth around ₹3 crore. Although 100 paddy bags were destroyed, villagers managed to contain the fire in time.

Upon receiving the alert, Sub-Inspector Rahul Reddy immediately informed the fire department in Sircilla. However, before fire crews could reach the site, local residents used nearby water sources to douse the flames.

Thanks to their swift action, a potential disaster was averted. The main stockpile of paddy was saved, preventing what could have been a massive loss for the rice mill.
