Elderly man dies after collapsing at government office in Telangana’s Mancherial

Hyderabad: A 60-year-old man from Supaka village in Telangana’s Mancherial district died after collapsing at a local government office where he had gone to have his name reinstated on a food security card.

The incident occurred in Kotapalli mandal headquarters, where the man, identified as Mallayya, had travelled to the Mandal Parishad Development Office to correct an error that had led to the removal of his name from the state’s food security database.

While waiting for his issue to be addressed, Mallayya suddenly collapsed inside the office premises. Bystanders rushed to help and arranged to shift him to a nearby hospital. However, doctors there declared him brought dead.

Officials confirmed that Mallayya had visited the office hoping to resolve an administrative error that had mistakenly excluded him from essential welfare entitlements. The sudden nature of the incident left fellow visitors and staff members shocked.

Authorities have not indicated any foul play, but the incident has highlighted the stress and vulnerabilities faced by elderly citizens dealing with bureaucratic systems.
