Drug use destroys lives, warns IPS officer Sandeep Sandilya

Hyderabad: EAGLE Force director and senior IPS officer Sandeep Sandilya on Tuesday warned that drug use destroys lives, calling addiction a trap that enslaves individuals and damages families and society alike.

Speaking at an awareness programme on “Drug Abuse Prevention” held at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Open University (BRAOU), Sandilya said substance abuse erodes human values and drastically reduces lifespan. Citing recent incidents, he called on youth and citizens to take collective responsibility in preventing the spread of drugs in Telangana.

He described addiction as a dangerous spiral, where initial use quickly leads to dependency. According to him, the consequences extend beyond the individual, affecting families, reputations, and the fabric of society.
