Dharmapuri Arvind hits back at Revanth Reddy over Centre remarks

Hyderabad: BJP MP Dharmapuri Arvind on Saturday launched a sharp counterattack on Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy over his remarks against the Centre, as municipal election campaigning intensified across Telangana.

Speaking at a campaign meeting in Nizamabad, Arvind said the state government must nominate cities under the Smart Cities programme. However, he accused the Congress government of neglecting its responsibility and instead shifting the blame to the Centre. He also cautioned Revanth Reddy against speaking merely at the direction of PCC chief Mahesh Kumar Goud.

Further, Arvind said Prime Minister Narendra Modi did not need to clean drains and that the Centre’s role was limited to providing funds. He alleged that the state government misused central funds and, as a result, failed to manage civic works properly. Moreover, he said the government did not pay sanitation workers on time, even though the Chief Minister directly handled the municipal administration.

Arvind sharpens attack on CM ahead of municipal poll results

Recalling earlier interactions, Arvind said Revanth Reddy addressed him disrespectfully before becoming Chief Minister. Later, he added that the Chief Minister changed his tone after assuming office. Nevertheless, Arvind said he remembered every remark clearly and had forgotten nothing.

Looking ahead, Arvind said municipal election results would come on February 13. According to him, the outcome would clearly show who truly stood accountable. Meanwhile, his remarks came as verbal attacks between major political parties continued to intensify ahead of the polls.
