Development and governance key to Jubilee Hills win, says Ponnam

Hyderabad: Minister for Transport Ponnam Prabhakar on Friday attributed the Congress victory in the Jubilee Hills by-election to strong governance and development under Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.

Speaking after Congress candidate Naveen Yadav’s win, Prabhakar said voters backed the ruling party for its grassroots development, likening the constituency’s progress to that of the cantonment area.

He accused the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) of attempting to manipulate voters by appealing to women’s sentiments and creating distractions. “The BRS tried to divert attention with emotional tactics, but the people chose progress,” he said.

Prabhakar highlighted key government schemes free rice, new ration cards, 200 units of complimentary electricity, interest-free loans for women, free bus rides via RTC, Indiramma housing, and rural job placements as reasons for growing public trust.

“These programs are making a tangible impact, even in difficult economic conditions. The people are clearly responding to our efforts to deliver inclusive governance,” he said.

Targeting the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Prabhakar claimed it failed to gain traction. “As we predicted, the BJP could not even cross 10,000 votes. Union Minister Kishan Reddy secretly sided with the BRS and must answer for it,” he alleged.
