Delay in Sircilla Mega Powerloom Cluster is political vendetta: KTR

Hyderabad: BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao on Monday accused the BJP-led Central Government of deliberately delaying the Sircilla Mega Powerloom Cluster. He called the move a political vendetta against Telangana’s weavers.

In a letter to Union Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh, KTR said Sircilla had fulfilled all eligibility norms under the Comprehensive Powerloom Cluster Development Scheme (CPCDS). Yet, he noted, the proposal remained pending for more than a decade. This was despite repeated submissions, ministerial meetings, and central inspections confirming its suitability.

Centre ignoring proven textile hub, alleges KTR

KTR questioned the Centre’s priorities, pointing out that it had approved mega clusters in other states with less capacity. Meanwhile, Sircilla, with over 30,000 power looms, continued to be overlooked. He said the Telangana government had already completed land allocation. In addition, it ensured power and water supply, and obtained all required clearances.

Calling the inaction a “murder of cooperative federalism,” he said the delay exposed the Centre’s double standards. He added that slogans like “Make in India” and “Atmanirbhar Bharat” rang hollow in the face of such neglect.

Weavers facing renewed crisis, warns BRS leader

KTR warned that the weavers of Sircilla were again in distress, with reports of suicides resurfacing. He blamed the continued delay—especially after the Congress came to power in Telangana—for deepening the sector’s crisis. He also criticised BJP MPs from Telangana for their silence on the matter.

Demanding immediate action, KTR urged the Centre to announce the Sircilla Mega Powerloom Cluster in the upcoming Union Budget. He said this was crucial to prevent further hardship for the weaving community.
