Hyderabad: BRS MLC Dasoju Sravan on Sunday accused the Congress-led Telangana government of arbitrarily carrying out the GHMC ward delimitation without consulting stakeholders. He said the redivision of Hyderabad’s municipal boundaries had been executed like a private contract. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, he added, was acting like a contractor.
Speaking at a meeting of the Lashkar District Sadhana Samithi held at Balam Rayali Palace in Secunderabad, Sravan said the government sidelined the Mayor, Commissioner, corporators, and even senior leaders during the process. He alleged that the delimitation was done unilaterally through the Centre for Good Governance, ignoring the principle of geographical equity.
Dasoju criticises lack of transparency in GHMC ward redivision
Sravan further questioned why the expert committee’s report was not made public. He said the reorganisation was politically motivated and lacked administrative transparency. Condemning what he called a cultural and administrative assault, Sravan said the CM had set out to destroy Telangana’s institutions.

Taking aim at the Congress party, he said Rahul Gandhi roamed the country chanting “Jai Samvidhan” while his party’s government in Telangana dismantled constitutional norms. He also praised senior BRS leader Talsani Srinivas Yadav for opposing the move. Furthermore, he called on people to protect Secunderabad’s identity and history.
He warned that the attempt to erase Secunderabad’s legacy would face resistance. Sravan said even Aurangzeb had failed to achieve such erasure, questioning how Revanth Reddy thought he could succeed. He urged people across political lines to stand up against the redivision and fight to preserve Hyderabad’s civic character.
“Just as Aurangzeb failed to rename Hyderabad as “Dar-ul-Jihad,” this Congress Govt will fail to erase Secunderabad’s 220-yr-old identity! Renaming Secunderabad as “Malkajgiri” is an attack on our “Twin Soul” status. By bypassing the SEC & 74th Amendment through private consultants (ASCI/CGG), the Govt is executing a multi-billion dollar Real Estate Fraud & political gerrymandering. Hands off Secunderabad! We will not let real estate mafias fragment our history,” Sravan said.
