Cybercrime accused cheats man of Rs. 3.25 lakh with fake job offer

Hyderabad: A Miyapur man lost Rs. 3.25 lakh in a fake software job scam, according to a complaint filed with Cyberabad Cyber Crime Police. The incident falls under the jurisdiction of the Gachibowli Cyber Crime Police Station.

The victim, Shriram of Miyapur RTC Colony, had been looking for a software job. During this period, a man identified as Akhil allegedly approached him with a job offer at Publicis Sapient.

Akhil first sent Shriram an interview email. He later sent documents for verification and eventually provided a fake offer letter.

Before the proposed joining date, the accused allegedly collected Rs. 3.25 lakh from Shriram. He reportedly demanded the money as processing fees and other job-related expenses.

Fake software job scam exposed at company office

On August 20, Shriram visited the actual Publicis Sapient office and showed the offer letter to company managers. They told him that the company had not issued the document.

Shriram then realised that the offer letter was fake and that he had allegedly been cheated. He immediately approached the Cyberabad Cyber Crime Police and lodged a complaint.

Police registered a case and began investigating the alleged fraud. Investigators are examining the fake documents, payment details and other circumstances surrounding the case.
