Cyberabad Police sensitises 4.8 lakh citizens on stock frauds in mega awareness drive

Hyderabad: As part of Cyber Jagarookta Divas, Cyberabad Police reached over 4.8 lakh citizens in a large-scale awareness drive on November 6. The campaign aimed to educate the public about increasing cases of business investment, IPO, and stock trading frauds.

The drive focused on at-risk groups, including older adults, private sector employees, and homemakers. Cyberabad Police organised outreach events at 41 educational institutions, 18 parks, five housing communities, and four corporate offices. In total, 240 police personnel and 20 corporate volunteers from the SCSC supported the initiative.

Cybercrimes DCP B. Sai Sri addressed listeners via Red FM 93.5, where she warned about fake trading apps and high-return scams. She urged the public to avoid unverified platforms, recognise pressure tactics, and stay away from unauthorized trading groups on WhatsApp and Telegram. She also noted that being asked to transfer money to multiple accounts is a serious warning sign.

To strengthen the campaign, police conducted special sessions for high-risk individuals identified through victim profiling. These sessions explained how to report online frauds and protect personal financial information. Additionally, the campaign extended its reach to over one lakh metro commuters in partnership with Hyderabad Metro.

ACP Cybercrimes Ravinder Reddy, Cybercrime Inspectors, Sub-Inspectors, and Bhanu Murthy of SCSC, along with DCsP from Rajendranagar and Madhapur, led the programme at various locations.

Cyberabad Police reaffirmed their commitment to proactive citizen engagement and cybercrime prevention through regular education and collaborative action.
