Cyberabad police audit 4,000 hostels for migrant safety

Hyderabad: Cyberabad Police Commissioner Avinash Mohanty has launched a large-scale safety audit of hostels in the region. This aims to improve security for migrants arriving from other states and districts for employment and education.

Mohanty’s initiative aims to provide a secure environment, especially in the Madhapur and Balanagar DCP zones under Cyberabad Commissionerate. These zones currently have around 4,000 hostels accommodating nearly 2 lakh residents.

While many of these hostels suffer from severe deficiencies in construction and permit compliance, police lack jurisdiction over building approvals. In response, Mohanty has collaborated with the Society for Cyberabad Security Council (SCSC). They have formed dedicated teams tasked with auditing security conditions in these hostels.

The audit teams have been identifying hostels that meet essential safety standards. Verified hostels are being documented with the SCSC. Job seekers and students can consult the council and make informed choices about safe accommodation.
