Cyberabad drunk driving cases see strict legal action
Officials reiterated that driving under the influence of alcohol is a serious offence and warned of stringent action in fatal cases. They stated that any person causing a fatal accident while intoxicated would be booked under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, which deals with culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
The provision carries a maximum punishment of up to 10 years of imprisonment along with a fine. Police said such strict enforcement aims to deter reckless driving and improve road safety.
