CPI leader blames Centre for deepening Indigo crisis

Hyderabad: CPI leader Narayana blamed the Union government for the Indigo airline crisis and said repeated cancellations caused severe distress to travellers. Moreover, he argued that the Centre weakened public aviation and shifted key assets into private hands. Because of this, passengers faced frequent disruptions without reliable support.

He said the collapse of public carriers created space for private dominance. Consequently, Indigo gained control of large passenger volumes and exposed customers to uncertainty. He added that the airline cancelled flights for four straight days, which forced travellers to wait inside airports without clear updates.

Narayana demanded a full government takeover of all Indigo aircraft. He said such action could stabilise schedules and rebuild trust. Furthermore, he alleged that Indigo tried to pressure the public and the Centre by creating confusion and collecting money without consistent service.

Travellers, meanwhile, expressed anger after long delays and sudden cancellations. Many said they waited inside terminals for hours despite shifting announcements. Others added that the situation caused financial strain and emotional stress throughout their journeys.

Narayana said these events highlighted the need for stronger public oversight. Therefore, he urged the Centre to act quickly and take responsibility for restoring smooth airline operations.
