HYDERABAD: Telangana PCC President Mahesh Kumar Goud stated that Congress had extended its support to the AIMIM candidate in the Hyderabad local body MLC election. He said that the AIMIM candidate had secured a remarkable victory in the election.
Speaking to media representatives at HICC in Hyderabad before attending the Bharat Summit conference that commenced today, Mahesh Kumar Goud explained that following Congress’s return to power, AIMIM had supported the Congress government on several issues in view of the prevailing situation in the state. Consequently, Congress chose to back the AIMIM candidate in the MLC election.
The PCC chief further remarked that despite lacking the necessary majority, the BJP had fielded its candidate. He alleged that BRS had initially decided to support the BJP in the election and that a secret understanding between the two parties had been reached. However, once this collusion came to light, BRS altered its stance and decided to boycott the election.
Mahesh Kumar Goud advised media representatives to directly question BJP leaders on how and why they contested the election despite not having the required numbers, and on whose support they had relied.
