Hyderabad: After the High Court stayed GO No. 9, which granted 42 percent BC reservations in local body elections, the Congress turned its focus to rebuilding its organisational structure across Telangana. The leadership decided to complete District Congress Committee (DCC) appointments without delay.
The AICC had appointed 22 observers to visit districts from October 4. Their plan paused when the local election process began. With the stay now in place, the observers will reach Hyderabad on October 11 to resume their field visits.
Congress moves fast on DCC appointments after BC quota stay
During the visit, the observers will meet district in-charge ministers, MPs, MLAs, MLCs, and senior leaders. They will collect opinions on local leadership. The AICC will finalise DCC presidents based on these reports.
Party insiders said the appointments could finish before the month ends. The stay on BC reservations gave the Congress time to reorganise. Leaders plan to strengthen the party base before local elections.
Congress members believe the new DCC heads will lead the campaign in upcoming polls. Political analysts said this move could help the party expand its reach and improve its grassroots hold.
